Isabella Stewart Gardner Art Museum Boston, MA Full Tour & Walkthrough Vlog

This museum is not only a unique treasure because of its vast collection of art that spans centuries and continents, but it has a very surreal story as well.

I recommend watching the 15 minute short film that tells the history of Isabella's life. It will give you a better appreciation for not only why she started her art collection, but why she was so meticulous about the placement of the pieces and strict about the inheritance of the museum to essentially the general public.

Isabella was clear in her will that none of the pieces of art were to be moved at all. In a surreal twist of fate, an unprecedented heist in 1900 resulted in the still unsolved theft of multiple pieces of art. There have been documentaries done on this case, including on Netflix, and there is a a $10 million dollar reward for information leading directly to the safe return of the stolen works.

Another interesting fact is that anyone with the name "Isabella" can gain access for free at all times! The first Thursday of the month is free with tickets.

The accessibility of the museum is just ok. They have accessible bathrooms and an elevator, but the elevator is a bit cramped. The cramped elevator is nothing compared to some of the doorways. I even got in trouble for measuring them for the vlog! Oops.... I didn't realize until after how sketchy that is - especially at the scene of one of the biggest art heists in history! The information is still worth it for the viewers of this vlog though!

If unique art museums are of interest to you, I feel like even experiencing the 50% of this museum that I would consider barrier free is still worth a visit (especially if you can get in free or through one of the discounted methods!).

The vlog is a full tour taking you on a walkthrough throughout the entire museum and palace, and it shows the garden area and flowers during the day and night.
