This vlog takes us on a 4K tour of the Gardens Aglow event in Sandwich (vlogmas part 2), and that was about 18 minutes away from our hotel on the Cape Cod Canal (the Hampton Inn - which is featured in part 1 of the vlogmas series).
Overall, the accessibility was pretty good aside from some side trails that were made up of sea shells. They were hard to trudge through in a transport chair, but it provided some funny footage.
Here is the accessibility information from the website:
- Complimentary transportation for visitors with mobility challenges and can be accessed at seven fixed stops throughout the grounds at benches marked with the International Symbol of Access. Transport makes continuous loops approximately every 20 minutes.
- Wheelchairs are available for visitors at the ticket booth. Wheelchairs will be cleaned between each use. (Didn't confirm this in person)
- Restrooms and the café are wheelchair accessible. We have outdoor and indoor accessible water fountains on the grounds and in gallery spaces.
There are spaces reserved for handicapped parking, which are clearly marked.
The light displays were really beautiful! There were a lot of unique features like the firefly display which reminded us of Pandora in Walt Disney World. There were different activities as well like roasting marshmallows and a reindeer scavenger hunt.
We also got to ride an old-fashioned carousel! Shout out to a nurse who was working the event that helped me up! I stayed on a bench instead of a horse, but it was actually higher up than I thought to get on.
We sadly didn't see Santa, but we got a glimpse of Mrs. Clause. Santa is available for pictures on a classic Ford car, but the tram drivers said that he is only available at select times. That is something to keep in mind and call ahead if you are bringing kids! Overall, I would say that this is a fun family activity that is affordable and mostly accessible, but it sells out so plan ahead!
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!
Part 2 of the Vlogmas features the Gardens Aglow event at the Heritage Museum & Gardens in Sandwich, MA, and Part 3 takes us on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard with a little tour of the island.
